Geography and climate
Location: Kenya is located in the East African region. It lies on the equator with the Indian Ocean to the south-east, Tanzania to the south, Uganda to the west, South Sudan to the north-west, Ethiopia to the north and Somalia to the north-east.
Kenya’s capital city Nairobi remains the safari capital of Africa. Nairobi is a cosmopolitan metropolis filled with boundless energy and rich cultural heritage.
Just 20 minutes outside the city is the Nairobi National Park, a 113 sq km park filled with plains, cliffs and forest. The park is also home to large herds of Zebra, Wildebeest, Buffalo, Giraffe, Rhino, Cheetah, and a large number of Lions.

Kenya enjoys a tropical climate. May is generally warm with mild daytime temperatures expected to reach a maximum temperature of 24°C and an average overnight minimum of 14°C. The AccuWeather forecast for 3rd to 6th May 2016 predicts some rainfall showers are to be expected. Delegates are therefore advised to carry warm clothes for the cold evening weather.
The Kenya shilling is the official currency of Kenya symbolized by "KES" or “Kshs”. There are 6 different shilling denomination coins and 4 different shilling denomination notes in circulation. Coins are denominated in 5cts, 1, 5, 10, 20 and 40 shilling coins. Notes are denominated in 100, 200, 500 and 1000 shilling notes which vary in color.

Voltage is 220V, 50 Hz (cycles). One needs to use a transformer (converter) if the appliance one wants to use is 110V. The electric plug is type G that has three rectangular pins.
